Cozy Newborn Home Session

Miss Juniper made her entrance into the world as the fall weather turned cold in Colorado. Her parents invited me into their home for an at-home newborn session to document this new little life. Mom was slightly nervous about how the session would go as Juniper had recently settled into a cluster-feeding rhythm, meaning she wanted to be eating more times than not. I build in time to these sessions for breaks - whether that's nursing, a new diaper, or moments to settle baby a bit. We were able to capture her naturally in a variety of cozy spots in their home - the nursery, the master bedroom, and their living room, which had nice, dreamy light. We spent time getting photos with Dad and baby, Mom and baby, everyone altogether, and some beautiful shots of Juniper on her own.

I often get asked about including pets in home sessions, and I'm always open to including furry friends. Big sister, a golden named Riley, did great when we included her in some of the photos. You'll have a hard time convincing me that pets aren't the best accessory to happy, cozy, images at home. In the end, we navigated Juniper's moods and hunger really well and were able to document this stage of their family life.
