Minimal Studio Moments

If I had to select some of my favorite photos I've taken in recent years, many of the images I would pick have something in common - a minimal studio setting that lets the subject shine. I'll be sharing some of my favorite studio sessions to highlight this go-to setting I love.

Liza, a model here in Denver, did a trade session together earlier this year. I asked her to bring a light colored neutral outfit and a brighter or pattern-based outfit as well. The neutral dress combined with a natural canvas background made for a creamy, warm portrait. Her dark hair in these photos makes it easy to add emphasis to her eyes and face. For her brighter patterned tropical set, we placed her up against the window light. I like how her tropical patterned set balances her dark hair perfectly in these images.

Studio Play

I met Courtney on a Valentine's Day themed styled shoot in early 2021. We got on great that day and reconnected to help Courtney promote herself and her new photography business. Every session I do with Courtney makes me realize she's basically sunshine in human form, but beyond that, it's a great example of how your personal style and personality can shine through in the images we create. I love this space and everything it has to offer.

Creative Play

Styled shoots are one of my favorite creative exercises, especially in the winter, when it's easier to hide from the elements. This session, hosted by Sugarhill Studio in Longmont, featured a minimalist couples theme. The combined heart beats and blooming flowers have always been a favorite amongst all the photos I've taken over the years.

Style Celebrated

Eleah's branding studio session was great fun. As a stylist, she brought armfuls of clothing to highlight, accessories, and energy for lots of outfit changes. It's really lovely to help someone capture images that will help their own creative business and professional growth.
